Howard maintained a diary of his whole year, documenting in detail the typical year of a President in Rotary. It is highlighted by the regular fund-raising events of a Kenilworth Rotary year and other social and civic events supported by Rotary, some of which raise charitable funds.

July 8th The Rotary Pavilion at the Royal Show.

August 7th Inner Wheel trip to Buckingham Palace.

August 15 Barbecue at Ian Coleman’s House to raise funds for Mid Warwicks Talking News.

August 28th The Rotary Art Show at the Town and Country Festival.

September 11th Civic Reception by the Mayor of Kenilworth, attended by the President.

September 12th Harvest Lunch at Barbara Wareings House in aid of The President of Inner Wheel’s Charity The Diabetic Association.

October 29-31 District Conference at Brighton.

November 14 Laying the wreath from Kenilworth Rotary at the Remembrance Service at the War Memorial.

November 14 Rotary Disabled Sports in which Kenilworth presents the prize for the Boccia Competition.

November 16 Switch on of the Town’s Christmas lights with Rotary having a soup stall.

December 10 Rotary Carol Service at Lichfield Cathedral.

December 19 President At Home for Wine and Nibbles.

December 20 The Christmas Message Meeting.

February 19 A Trip to Symphony Hall to hear Brass 2000 and The Black Dyke Mills Band.

February 29 Rotary Day: Helping the disabled shopping in the Royal Priors.

March 18 Rotary Millennum Gala shared between local Rotary clubs at the Chesford Grange Hotel raising £2,750 for the Myton Hospice.

March 25 Tin Rattle for Myton Hospice, raising £455.

April The Grocery Grab raising over £1,200 for charity.

April 29–May 4 The Blackpool Holiday arranged by Rotary at low cost.

May 16 Inner Wheel Club ‘Gentleman’s Evening’.

June 27 The Two Castles Run, raising around £3,000 for charity of which £2,000 was given to President Howard’s charities for the year: £1,000 to Myton Hospice and £1,000 to The British Blind Sports Association.
