Kenilworth Rotary Christmas Message 2001:

Every year the members of the Rotary Club of Kenilworth meet to share their Christmas Dinner with friends and hear the Christmas message. The year 2001 was an opportunity for the Rev Charles North, President of The Rotary Club of Coventry North to reflect on recent world events and to offer a message of hope and reconciliation.

It was also an opportunity for the Club to present the Citizen of the Year Award to two Kenilworth Citizens:

  • June Sanday, for her life-time’s devotion to the Girl Guide Organisation in Kenilworth,
  • Councillor Dave Shilton for his sterling work in spearheading Kenilworth in Bloom, awarded the Prize for the best town in the Midland area.

A donation of £1000 was made to Sargent Cancer Care ...

... and two Kenilworth Rotarians —Dudley Taylor & Colin Chatham— were honoured with Paul Harris Fellowships for their years of Rotary service.

June Sanday is presented with her Citizen of the Year Award by Rotary President, Peter Roberts and the Mayor of Kenilworth, Felicity Bunker.
Councillor Dave Shilton is presented with his Citizen of the Year Award for his work with Kenilworth in Bloom.

President Peter Roberts presents a cheque for £1000 for Sargent Cancer Care.

The staff of the Chesford Hotel are thanked for their service throughout the year.

Rotarian Colin Chatham is awarded his Paul Harris Fellowship.

The Sargeant at Arms, John Kelley, organises the evening with his usual aplomb ...

... and Rotarian David Tall receives a standing ovation from Rotarian Colin Sallis (right) for drawing a hearty performance of the twelve days of Christmas from those present.
