ROTARY CLUB OF KENILWORTH
International & Foundation Committee: Projected Budget for 2005-6
Presented at Club Assembly on 23 May 2005
We propose to continue support for disaster box schemes, Jaipur Limb project, Nepal Trust, Sangam School, Sound Seekers, Sight Savers, Children of the Andes, Hope and Homes, Concern Worldwide, and for the locally based charities CORD, Uyogo Village Trust, FOAG and Pump Aid. In addition we shall support Sense International the charity for the deaf/blind and Ha Fusi School in Lesotho.
We have allocated what we think is an appropriate sum towards matching grant schemes with the Rotary Clubs of Ranchi and Port Blair. It is probably unlikely that both schemes will progress fast enough for all of this money to be required during the coming Rotary year.
The contingency sum allocated for disaster relief is enlarged, in recognition of the increased likelihood of environmental disasters caused by global warming and a generally more uncertain climate.
Our financial contribution to the Rotary pavilion at the Royal Show is at present unchanged and, we believe, may have to be raised. We shall again have a Shelter Box on display to publicise Rotary’s disaster relief work.
The donation to Rotary Foundation includes any contribution to Polio Plus.
The Stop-Klatka project to develop the use of drama to educate people about the problems of drug abuse, domestic violence and other problems in the poorer suburbs of Warsaw and elsewhere in Poland appears worthy of support. Anna Poynter will seek more information. A donation will probably not be required this year.
In recent years the International Committee has arranged a theatre night or garden party as its particular contribution to fund raising. Sometime during the coming year we propose instead to have a frugal meal, either as a special event or in place of one of the club’s regular Monday meals.
The total proposed budget for International and Foundation (subject to available funds) is £9,250, with responsiblity for each item as follows:
(CW=Colin Wilding, AP=Anna Poynter, RS=Roy Shearing, BB=Bernard Beadle, CC=Colin Chatham, DT=David Tall, LB=Laura Bowmer, JD=Jerry Duckett.)
