Rotary club of Kenilworth Community & Vocational Report  2009/2010

First of all thanks to my committee for their work during the above year. We had four meetings but utilised e mail wherever possible to expedite our discussions and actions.

During this current Rotary year the following actions have been taken under the banner of Community & Vocational.

In July we helped Kenilworth Wardens FC in improving their facilities and provided £250 for new goal posts. Since that time they have confirmed their excellent facilities are available to us and we are receiving notification of their social events.

Rainbow Guides were opening a new unit in Kenilworth and we provided £200 to-wards their start up costs. Since that Roma Armstrong has been to the club to speak.

We provided a new wheelchair for a local deserving cause Paul Boswell who had approached us at last year’s festival. In conjunction with Lions & Round Table this was provided and President Phillip presented same to an appreciative Paul.  This also opened channels for future joint projects with our other charity friends in the town.

Colin Wilding had worked tirelessly on Blackpool Holidays and happy holiday makers were collected and delivered to the Coach last Thursday (27th) & will be picked up to-morrow (3rd) hopefully still happy.

Thanks to Dennis Dowdswell for continuing with organising Tuesday Club despite not enjoying the best of health at the moment.

Arnold Bolton dealt with Special Citizens Award and a surprised (sorry ask Arnold ) was very appreciative.  Christmas Lights, Soup Kitchen. Thanks to Colin Sallis for organising. Money was raised for Macmillan Nurses by displaying their cause and distributing money pledge forms to the local shops in Talisman Square.

Peter Roberts recently reported that the 2 D Fibs earmarked for Kenilworth are now with NHS West Midlands Ambulance Service and awaiting delivery of Boxes. Peter will no doubt give us an up-date on that.
