I would to think that over the coming year this club can continue with all the good work for which it is well known.
All Rotarians are committed to try to make our local community and indeed the world a better place and this Club is no exception.
It would be good to hear from or get involved with local organisations to see if Rotary can help in any way. !
Although Rotary has a motto, ‘Service above Self’ it also has an annual theme which often fits in with the current climate. Last year it was Making Dreams Real and this to some extent is being carried over into this year because Rotary International is committed to the eradication of Polio in the world something with which it has been involved since 1980 latterly in conjunction with the Bill Gates Foundation – we are told that we are close to achieving this goal and the final push is here. It will be a great day when the announcement is made and Rotarians all over the world will be extremely happy. So too should all those people who regularly give generously when we put on events – their donations are wisely spent locally, nationally and internationally!
Rotary like many other organisations welcomes new members. I am convinced that there are many in Kenilworth who would like to try to help the young, the elderly and the vulnerable but perhaps do not know how to do it! Rotary can help – whilst it would be great to have new members, male and female, we also have Friends of Rotary which is basically a database of people who may not be able to commit themselves fully to Rotary but who feel that they can offer help with:
