The final rush of entries on the closing date took the entry for the Two Castles Run over target. It has proved necessary therefore to close the entry and, with regret refuse entries that arrived after the closing date. There will be no further registration on the day on the day of the run, so please do not turn up to run if you are not already registered.

The 21st 10k Two Castles Run from Warwick Castle to Kenilworth Castle on Sunday 8th June 2003 had 1,091 registered finishers, the largest number in the history of the run.

As of October 15th, 2003, a grand total of £3,340 has been raised by sponsored runners in support of our charitable activities. This is a significant increase on the £2,775 raised last year. We thank everyone concerned.

(The dates for 2001, 2002 are adjusted to correspond to the current year's schedule.)

TWO CASTLES RUN AIMS FOR RECORD ENTRY

Kenilworth Rotarians are aiming for a record entry of 1,000 in the annual Two Castles Run next month. In addition, to mark the 2lst year of the event, special trophies are to be awarded to the winners in both male and females categories and to the oldest competitor to cross the finishing line.  Instead of a certificate, every successful competitor will receive a presentation medal marking the 2l years of the Run.

For the fifth year in succession the national builders, Laing Homes, are subsidising the race. Ian Courts, managing director of Laing Homes (Midlands) visited Kenilworth Castle to hand over a cheque to the Kenilworth Rotary President, Bernard Beadle.

Ian Courts meets Bernard Beadle at the car park at Kenilworth Castle.  The castle becomes more and more impressive as they walk towards it.

Ian salutes the castle with his Laing hat whilst Bernard raises a pair of trainers to emphasise that 10 K Race is about running!
The three men illustrate the partnership needed to organise the race.  Mark Malling, the deputy head custodian of Kenilworth Castle is in front of Ian Courts (Laing Homes) and Bernard Beadle (Rotary).  The beauty and diversity of the Castle is illustrated in the background to these two shots - Runners, don't just leave after the race, take the opportunity to visit the castle.
One last view, but this times downwards.  Bernard seems to be feeling just a little wary!

There is a minimum age limit of 15 years.  Entry fees are £7 irrespective of age (£6 for UK Athletics runners) with late entries at £15 accepted until 8.30am at the start - assuming there are places left.

Entry forms are obtainable on the web and at Coventry Building Society offices; Kenilworth, Warwick and Leamington libraries; the Court House, Jury Street, Warwick; President Health, Warwick Street, Leamington; the Weekly News office, Kenilworth and the Courier Review office, Hamilton Terrace, Leamington.
