A record number of 2,236 runners registered for the Two Castles Run on Sunday, 12th June, 2005 of whom 1,857 were recorded as running and finishing.

The outright winner was Hywel Davies in 34 mins 4 seconds — 34 seconds quicker than his winning time last year. 
The first female runner across the line was Ruth Barnes in 38 mins 58 seconds.

Awards were presented by the Mayor of Kenilworth, Norman Vincett, with thanks to all concerned being expressed by the President of the Rotary Club of Kenilworth, Zig Layton-Henry.

The overall winners are as follows:


The Rupert Davis Trophy for the winning male runner, Hywel Davies, of Rugby RCC, is presented by the Mayor of Kenilworth, Norman Vincett, overlooked by Warwick District Chairman, Dave Shilton.

The Tom Roberts Trophy for the winning female runner, Ruth Barnes of Kenilworth Runners.

The Dudley Taylor Trophy for the oldest male finisher, Ken House of South Devon AC, with Rotary President Zig Layton Henry and the Mayor of Kenilworth.

The oldest lady finisher, Lorna Pollard.


The 23rd 10k Two Castles Run from Warwick Castle to Kenilworth Castle will take place on Sunday 12th June 2005 at 9.00am. To cope with increased numbers, the run will begin in St Nicholas Park, adjacent to Warwick Castle and finish inside the grounds of Kenilworth Castle itself.

On May 31st, the list closed with a total registered of 2,236 runners.

In addition to the usual medallions for all finishers and mementos for the first three in each category, there will be a SPECIAL PRIZE for the first FANCY DRESS TEAM home (based on the first four runners in the team).

This year’s nominated charities are Helen Ley Court, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice; the Rotary Club of Kenilworth also supports a range of other local, national and international good causes. Rotary is an international organisation which supports major international projects, such as PolioPlus, planned to rid the world of Polio this year, many other ongoing programs, with immediate actions for disaster relief, such as the Asian Tsunami Catastrophe.
